Delmira Mercer ("Mira") | Ethnicity - Prigallan | Current Residence - Volvestre, Ancien
In very distant lands, there stands the youthful embers of the Empire of Prigalla and the modest nation of Erutus that rises to protect itself against the Empire. The history of war scars both cultures with much cruelty to one another, with many Erutusians dead from their uprising to reclaim their land from conquest and many Prigallans enslaved after their forced retreat. Such events have created a dynamic of hatred that stood to produce such unique awe when one could dare offer kindness to the other. and such an act of kindness is what marks the beginning of Delmira's story.
Born to a Prigallan slave woman under the house of Kisev Aeli-Benham, Delmira was soon orphaned due to her mother's passing during childbirth. Though her Prigallan blood immediately deemed her outcast in Erutusian culture and she ought to have been left to die, the kind dynamic that festered between the slave woman and her master, along with the absence of any children of his own, moved Kisev to adopt Delmira instead. There, she was raised delicately and secretly as a child of House Aeli-Benham, veiled in the presence of all and confined to the estate of her father to conceal her heritage, until she was freed by her marriage to a foreign merchant who brought her to these lands.
{ Strengths }
- Charismatic and Earnest | Though somewhat of an attitude gives Delmira a stubborn edge, her heart carries deep compassion and relational longing. Her social-butterfly-like nature combined with a sense of depth and wisdom makes her a rather persuasive and trust-earning character.
- Artistic and Creative | Her Erutusian upbringing is just augmentation to her already very artistic spirit. She has a deep admiration for the beauty and expression found in literature, music, and all other forms of art. She enjoys writing, singing, and exploring instruments; some of which, she may actually be half decent at.
- Graceful | While it is less of a credit to any sort of athleticism and instead is more of an air to her demeanor, Delmira is still rather nimble and well-controlled in her movement. It serves her as a form of dexterous agility under certain circumstances.
{ Weaknesses }
- Beheld by Care and Pragmatism | The nuance of circumstances can turn her sense of morality grey in many situations. What is best for the people she cares about right now? Are the consequences worth a good outcome in this moment? Does the end justify the means? Lawfulness eludes her and her decision making, though thoughtful of others, is often more pragmatic than morally consistent.
- Disinterest in the Scholarly | Unless knowledge has an artistic flair or a very practical use for her personally, she finds it very difficult to remember mounds of information as other more scholarly characters often can. Though principles, concepts, and creative interpretations of information stick with her, she is less of the repository of knowledge that others may be.
- Deeply Sentimental | Often, longing for a particular vision and clinging to something nostalgic can keep her from making commitments and changes. Though she lives in a completely foreign land, she refuses to lose her old identity as a daughter of Erutus, even if that is what is required of her to truly belong here.
