Description

Captive to vile slavers, a lumberjack named Sims was forced to ply his skills to feed these wicked men and their chattel. All of that changed when a raid by the Zebians decimated the camp. Cowering beneath a collapsed tent, the fat cook believed he was a dead man.

Suddenly, one of the slaver raiding parties returned, and the slaughter was renewed. As the battle was drawn away from the camp in pursuit, Sims seized the opportunity to escape.

Drawn by a faint warmth in the air—or perhaps a whisper only the desperate can hear—the starving and exhausted old man found himself before a well-kept shrine atop a rise. Inside, the bounty of The Divine was present: gifts of food, drink, and aid for the needy. Recognizing the sun symbol of the Monastic Order’s founders, the Pillars of the Sixth Redeemer, he set his sights on the towering monastery he glimpsed through tears of joy.

Kneeling before the symbol of the Sixth Redeemer, Sims whispered a vow through cracked lips, offering the rest of his days in service to Oroael and the light of the Pillars. Unbeknownst to him, this path would lead not just to sanctuary—but to purpose.

As the years progressed, Brother Sims became known as one of the most hardworking and dedicated members of the Priory, eventually named "Steward" and made a member of the Luminary Council of the Pillars (a position he accepted begrudgingly) . Sadly, his foibles—notably drunkenness and lechery—continued to plague his ability to fully adhere to his Order’s tenets. While those who follow the Sixth Redeemer are forever striving to improve themselves, these propensities have earned him both infamy and harsh rebuke. “The Divine be praised,” as they say, for Sims has excelled in his old talents of cooking and forestry, and has added carpentry, building, and gardening to his increasingly cultured repertoire. His approach to worship may be conducted in a haze of spirits, but his dedication and effort to follow the Will of the Divine cannot be questioned.
