Description

🔮 Dablis the Lenskeeper

Archivist, Trickster, and Keeper of the Second Sight

If Eotakk is the mind of the Bifocal Bandits, Dablis is its memory — and occasionally, its migraine. Known across the valleys of Pax Dei as “the one who writes the truth backward,” Dablis claims to record every Bandit deed faithfully in his great tome, The Ledger of Lies. Whether any of it is accurate is another matter entirely.

Before joining the Bandits, Dablis was a scribe for a minor noble family — fired, according to rumor, for forging signatures better than the nobles themselves. He survived by selling fake maps to lost adventurers until one day, one of his “fakes” led Eotakk straight to the ruins where the Two-Eyed Compass was found.

Rather than punish him, Eotakk laughed and offered him a place in the guild. Dablis accepted immediately, claiming he had “seen that coming in duplicate.”

✍️ Personality

Dablis is eccentric even by Bandit standards. He wears two pairs of glasses at once — one for seeing close, one for seeing through lies. He speaks in riddles and footnotes, often quoting himself mid-conversation. When newcomers ask what his title, Lenskeeper, means, he replies:

“It means I see what others forget — and forget what others see.”

He is the Prism Scribe, archivist of the Bandits’ past and architect of their legends. His quill is enchanted with mild foresight, allowing him to write what will happen a few seconds before it does — though this often ruins surprises and tavern bets alike.

🧠 Role in the Guild

Dablis maintains the Hall of Reflections, a sprawling underground library of warped mirrors and light crystals beneath the Bandits’ hideout. There, history and illusion blur. Some say the reflections show possible futures; others claim Dablis likes to watch people argue with themselves.

He is fiercely loyal to Eotakk, though he often mocks him in the guild’s chronicles — ensuring Eotakk’s legend grows even faster than the truth can catch up.

💬 Guild Saying

When asked what binds him to the Bandits, Dablis once said:

“Eotakk sees the world as it is. I see it as it might be — usually after a drink or two.”

And so he remains — the Lenskeeper of Legends, whose ink stains history itself, even if half of it’s upside down.
